This is a three-sided dog toothbrush: the head wraps around the tooth so the outside, the inside and the top get brushed in the same stroke.
Your dog does not hold still with his mouth open. Whatever you are going to get done, you get done in about fifteen seconds before he turns his head away.
A flat brush cleans one face at a time, so fifteen seconds gets you the outside of the teeth on one side and nothing else. This head is a U, with bristles on all three inner faces, so one pass along the gum line covers the outside, the inside and the chewing surface at once.
The handle has a ribbed grip where your thumb goes, because you will be holding it at an angle with one hand while the other hand holds a dog.
Why three sides instead of one?
Because you get one pass, not three. A dog tolerates a short session, not a thorough one. The three-sided head is a way of spending that time on all three faces instead of one.
What toothpaste do I use?
Dog toothpaste only. Human toothpaste is swallowed rather than spat out, and some brands contain xylitol.
Will it fit my dog?
The brush is 6.9 in (17.4 cm) long with a head 0.9 in (2.2 cm) wide and 0.6 in (1.5 cm) thick. The length is what lets you reach the back teeth without putting your hand in his mouth.
How often?
Whatever you will actually keep doing. A short brush most days beats a thorough one once a month that you stop doing after three weeks.
Why we make this
Waffle is a Bernese mountain dog. He is good at lying down and not much else.
